Hypnosis itself has for decades been subject to a great deal of research, and is now widely accepted as a recognisable scientific phenomena. Hypnosis received official recognition by the medical establishment (British & American Medical Associations) as being a valid treatment as far back as the 1950's.

One common misconception people have about hypnotherapy is that it requires a loss of awareness or that it is like being asleep or unconscious. At no time do you lose control and you are able to stop at any time during the session. In fact, most individuals actually experience a concentrated and more focussed awareness. It is as if we can become fully absorbed and attentive to such a degree that anything which happens in our external world becomes less important. It is much like being engrossed in a really good book or film or arriving somewhere by car and not remembering actually driving there.

Hypnotherapy and hypnosis are simply about your responses to suggestions. When you respond to my suggestions, a pathway is opened which allows further suggestions to be compounded. From a detailed case history, I will construct and deliver suggestions which are uniquely personal to you. Suggestions for deep relaxation when carefully phrased, worded and repeated can bring about a trance state, building a deeper rapport and increasing responsiveness to further suggestion. Allow yourself to co-operate and comply with these suggestions and you will experience the full benefits of hypnosis.
