Hypnotherapy to give up smoking, manage weight loss and more...
Hypnotherapy
can be used to manage and help many situations including managing
weightloss or to stop smoking. Below is a list including
some of the conditions that I am most frequently asked for help with
using Clinical Hypnotherapy:
Panic Attacks
If you suffer from panic attacks you will know they are very real and terrifying.
Under hypnosis, using a proven combination of ancient and the most modern techniques, together we can progressively lessen their effect upon you until they completely disappear.
Although it may not seem so, the attacks are a product of your mind, and hypnotherapy makes it possible for you to enter a natural state where your mind is so relaxed it is possible for us, working together, to change it so that the panic attacks are banished forever.
Giving Up Smoking
The results of 6000 cases world-wide were analysed and it was found that hypnotherapy was three times more successful at getting people to stop smoking than Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patches etc.)
I use hypnotherapy combined with NLP techniques to successfully remove your desire for cigarettes. Usually there are no withdrawal symptoms and no weight gain. Many people totally give up smoking after just one session although my recommendation is for three, however if you are one of the few who doesn't, then you can come for a free back up session.
Weight Management
You cannot diet if you are not in the right frame of mind. I use advanced techniques of hypnotherapy to get your subconscious in the right frame of mind so that you want to be the weight that you see yourself as being.
In further sessions I use hypnotherapy to alter the way you view food and put those perceptions deep into your subconscious mind. Finally, we change your attitude to your favourite foods. You still enjoy them to the full, but you do not want them all the time, nor do you want them to excess. You will become the weight you want to be and you will stay there.
Nail Biting
As with smoking, any habit we have is learned by repetition. It is our mind that keeps it alive.
Hypnotherapy enables you to unlearn your habit very quickly by tapping into your subconscious mind and 'rewiring' it so that you have no desire to carry on your habit. As long as you really do want to give up then hypnotherapy will sort it out for you.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
People with IBS have nothing physically wrong with their bowel. It appears that it is the functioning of the gut which is at fault and this functioning is under the control of the subconscious mind in the same way that your heartbeat, and all autonomic bodily functions, are controlled by the subconscious mind.
Under hypnosis and using proven therapeutic techniques, your subconscious mind can be accessed in order to initiate the thought processes required to achieve physiological change. Hypnotherapy is used by some NHS hospitals very effectively, to relieve the symptoms of IBS
Low Self-Esteem
A feeling of being worth nothing is one of the biggest hurdles to a successful life. If you don't believe in yourself, no-one else will.
After a few sessions of hypnotherapy you will find your confidence growing. You will be able to hold your own in any situation. As your self-worth grows your friends, acquaintances and work colleagues start to respect you more and thus the growth circle continues until you improve so much that you will have no further need for therapy.
Stress
Symptoms of stress include headaches, nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, eczema, extreme tiredness and feelings of being unable to cope.
I will teach you techniques together with self-hypnosis, which will control the thought patterns which lead to, or exacerbate, these symptoms. You leave equipped with a technique for use in stressful situations with which to tackle these thoughts and lessen the physiological changes which happen in response to stress.
Phobias
Phobias have been defined as irrational fears. The fact is that sometimes these fears have no basis in reality. That does not mean that the fear is any less real to you. The fear can be terrifying and you most definitely feel it. Phobias have been learned over time and have become a part of your reality. If you have learned it you can unlearn it and hypnotherapy combined with NLP will help to achieve this.
General tools, tips and suggestions:
- If you are experiencing psychological or physical problems associated with your behaviour, go to your GP first.
- Facing up to, thinking or knowing that you have a problem to do with an addiction, eating disorder, or inappropriate behaviour means that you have already made significant progress. Now you can take it further. Twelve step programmes are not for everyone but for many people they are invaluable. Groups cover various issues and include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Al Anon, Overeaters Anonymous and Sex Addicts Anonymous. You can find all of them on the internet or ask your GP.
- Keep a diary to log the behaviour - and record the details exactly. You may be surprised either way! It can also be a useful thing to take to anyone you may seek help from.
- Talk to someone. Talk to a friend or the Samaritans. If it has been going on for a while or seems particularly distressing or is impacting negatively on your life, and you have tried all of the above, consider seeking other professional help. You can contact me but if you live too far away then you can go to the National Council for Hypnotherapy or the General Hypnotherapy Register websites to find a well qualified hypnotherapist in your area.
